The Puppet Master

First aired Friday, July 10, 1987

Synopsis

Locke is captured and implanted with a mind-control device meant to compromise Airwolf.

Episode recap

Jason Locke — the team's company man — is captured and implanted with a mind-control device, turning the crew's own colleague into the enemy's instrument aimed at Airwolf. "The Puppet Master" is the final season's paranoia summit: the threat isn't at the gates, it's in the briefing room, wearing a friend's face and speaking with a friend's clearance. The series tested Airwolf against rival machines, moles and logic bombs; now it tests her against a hijacked human being. Saving Locke without treating him as expendable is the mission's real needle — the Lady's crew doesn't write off its own.
