"Sins of the Past" strips the series' warmest character down to grief and fury, while Hawke works to clear a man whose alibi is complicated by exactly the kind of past the title promises. For a show built on aerial spectacle, this is a strikingly ground-level episode — a murder mystery about the family Dom lost long before the audience met him. Borgnine plays every beat of it like the dramatic actor the Oscar said he was.
