The crew uncovers a base testing the Scorpion — an advanced attack helicopter with a delivery address that ends the debate about stakes: the KGB. "Salvage" gives the new team its first rival-aircraft story, the Season 4 echo of Redwolf and HX-1, and plants the series' oldest flag: Airwolf's supremacy is a lease, not a title, and somebody is always building the next challenger. Between infiltration and airborne confrontation, the episode lets St. John measure himself against the legacy he inherited — his brother beat machines like this; now the job, and the Lady, are his.
