Mad Over Miami

First aired Saturday, March 24, 1984

Synopsis

Hawke searches for a kidnapped friend and discovers his own agency secretly hired the mercenaries behind the abduction.

Episode recap

A kidnapped friend, a trail to Miami, and a discovery that lands harder than any missile: the mercenaries behind the abduction were hired by Hawke's own agency. "Mad Over Miami" plants the series' most corrosive idea — that the F.I.R.M. giveth and the F.I.R.M. taketh away — and lets Hawke feel the full weight of working for people who treat him as an asset with a heartbeat. The mission becomes a two-front war: rescue the friend, and stare down the employer. The episode cements why Hawke keeps Airwolf hidden rather than handing her back; leverage, the show keeps saying, is the only insurance an honest man gets in this business.
