Synopsis
A country star's manager plots her murder to boost record sales, forcing Hawke and Santini to mount a rescue.
Episode recap
A country music star sells millions of records, and her manager has run the numbers on one final promotion: she's worth more dead. "Out of the Sky" drops the team into the music business, where the glamour is real and so is the arithmetic of exploitation. The star's murder is planned as a career move — tragedy as marketing — and Hawke and Santini have to mount a rescue inside an industry where everyone smiles for a living. It's one of the season's most cynical premises wearing one of its most entertaining settings, complete with the series' signature cure for corporate scheming: rotor wash.
