Escape

First aired Friday, January 30, 1987

Synopsis

Jo must retrieve secret documents in Istanbul and be pulled from a downed plane before a peace conference collapses.

Episode recap

The new team's first standalone mission sends Jo Santini to Istanbul, where secret documents and a downed plane stand between the world and a collapsing peace conference. "Escape" is a deliberate proving flight: can the reshuffled crew carry the weekly formula? Jo — flying the Santini name into the series' future — inherits the family trait of refusing to stay where it's safe, and the extraction from the wreck gives the episode its title and its clock. The geopolitics are classic Airwolf; the faces are new; the aircraft, as ever, is the constant everything else orbits.
