An old flame of Hawke's is set to testify about an assassination plot — her husband's — and staying alive until the courtroom becomes a full-time occupation. "Day of Jeopardy" gives the series a protection thriller with history in the cockpit: Hawke guarding a woman he once loved, against a man she once married, with the calendar itself as the enemy. Every safehouse is temporary, every road is exposed, and the Lady can't hover over a witness stand. The episode plays the days like a countdown and lets old feelings complicate professional distance — a combination Hawke has never once handled cleanly.
