Prisoner of Yesterday

First aired Saturday, February 9, 1985

Synopsis

South American rebels kidnap Hawke's doctor friend amid a plot to overthrow the president by poisoning him.

Episode recap

South American rebels kidnap a doctor — Hawke's friend — as part of a plan with surgical elegance: the country's president will die not by bullet but by poison, and medicine itself will be the murder weapon. "Prisoner of Yesterday" tangles personal loyalty with geopolitics, sending the team into a conflict where every faction has a version of history that justifies anything. The title cuts at Hawke, too — a man held hostage by his own yesterday. Between jungle flying and palace intrigue, the episode carries one of the season's sharper points: in some wars, the most dangerous weapon is a trusted hand.
